Wow..What a Miracle

I was just checking up on my favorite blogs as I do often, and a friend of ours had posted a peice about a little boy named Eliot. I wanted to share it with you because it moved me..what a miracle this boy was and what a miracle we all have in our children. Eliot's parents have a blog called 99 balloons which I posted over there in my column. 99 balloons for everyday that that precious little boy was alive. Oh, how it is so easy to take our children's good health for granted. There is also a video on youtube about Eliot's short life and how his parents are able to draw their strength from God in spite of such heart-breaking circumstances. I was just so moved as I listened to his father narrate, tears flowing down my face, thinking of what it must be like to lose a child. His story was also featured on Oprah Tuesday.

There is a Chill in the Air

My blogs seem to get further and further apart, but I still love to share what is happening in the Rose family. Indiana has settled into fall, I think it is 32 degrees tonight..brr!! Needless to say we have enjoyed our family time these past few weekends camping with family and friends. We especially enjoyed last weekend as it was the Halloween festival at the campground, complete with pumpkin carving, crafts, games and trick-or-treating. Unfortunately I forgot to pack the camera, (and Brian's coat and gloves, oops!) so no cute pictures of the kids, but thankfully I did remember to pack everyone else's warm winter clothing, sorry Brian! We plan on going trick-or-treating this Friday night so I plan to take lots of pictures. Katie is preparing for her first reconciliation and I had a parent meeting tonight at church. We are excited about this upcoming sacrament and look forward to Katie realizing fully the awesome grace in God's forgiveness. Brian has been traveling alot lately for his job which has been hard on everyone, but we are definitely thankful he has a job! I made some homemade chicken noodle soup to counter the chill in the air and it was a hit with everyone! Gotta love that, a complaint-free meal!!

Mom, I Don't Know How It Happened?

So, Katie and Maggie now ride home with a neighbor friend of ours so that they don't have to ride the bus and we are all thrilled. But the girls are thrilled in a different way. My friend, Mark, who brings them how, hands out a peice of gum to my girls and his boys on the way home, very exciting! However, the past two days Maggie has come home with a huge clump of gum in her hair, right next to her hairline. I remembered that gum in hair=peanut butter so twice now I have slathered my precious Jif on her hair and pulled out the gum. Now, one would think, once in the hair, possible. But twice, one day after the next, is more unlikely. However Maggie is absolutley sure she has no idea how this could have happened and is unsure if it is unavoidable. So for now, until we can get the " I must have a hole in the back of my head" theory down pat, we have a moratorium on the gum. Here's a picture of Maggie goofing off in the tub while wahing out the PB.
